The fire, which broke out at a clothing factory on Bacus Road, took a few hours to put out. Two people were injured as they jumped out of a first floor window in panic. A third person suffered an unspecified medical emergency as a result of the fire. They were all taken to hospital for treatment.

First year journalism student Barbie Rudman lives nearby and says sparks from the fire landed in the yard of another factory.

"Sparks flew from the building onto nearby property which also caught fire prompting firefighters to rush to put out these fires," she said.

"Flames were really high and just shooting out of the building continuously. Firefighters surrounded the entire area and so did police and ambulances," Rudman said.
