PHOTOS: The Durban fuel tanker explosion that has shut the N2
Officials have warned that the N2 northbound is likely to remain closed for most of the day following a massive fuel tanker explosion in the early hours of this morning.
They are hoping the southbound carriageway will be opened in time to accommodate afternoon peak hour traffic.
The two drivers of the trucks involved have escaped unscathed.
East Coasters who were at the scene have sent through pictures showing the extent of damage caused.

UPDATE: Both lanes on the N2 south bound have been reopened - while the north bound carriageway remains closed.
