Phoenix residents urged to discuss issues with municipality
Updated | By Noxolo Miya
The Woodview Ratepayers Association has turned down a proposal by Phoenix residents to withhold rate payments from the municipality.

It hosted a dialogue over the weekend to discuss a number of pressing issues, including service delivery and the performance of elected public representatives in the area.
The association's chairperson Theo Pillay says some frustrated residents brought up the issue of withholding rate payments in response to poor service delivery.

He believes doing so would divide communities.
Pillay says it could also lead to bulk disconnections of services like water, electricity and waste removal.
He says they've urged residents to have an open discussion with the municipality.
"As the Woodview Ratepayers Association, we advocate for open dialogue and collaboration with the municipality to address concerns and seek mutually beneficial solutions. It is by working together that we can shape it and make a stronger, sustainable for our community."
