Phoenix gunman hands himself over to police
Updated | By Jarryd Subroyen
A Durban man has handed himself over to police after allegedly shooting his ex-girlfriend during an apparent domestic quarrel.
It's understood the man arrived at a property on Evergreen Circle in Phoenix and opened fire on the 39-year-old woman - wounding her.
VIP Medical and Rescue's Anneline Hansraj says they were alerted to the shooting by neighbours.
The man fled to his family home in Greenbury where he apparently threatened to shoot his parents.
The police's Thembeka Mbhele says he eventually surrendered to hostage negotiators.
"The suspect handed himself over to the negotiators. He was placed under arrest. He will be charged for attempted murder and will be appearing in court soon," Mbhele said.
