Phoenix community to hold ‘peace march’ amid ongoing power problems
Updated | By Sandile Bhengu
The community of Phoenix in KZN has been appealing to eThekwini Municipality to improve service delivery in the area.
Violent protests broke out last weekend when angry residents took to the streets to complain about ongoing power outages.
Community members who set tyres alight on Phoenix Highway said they had spent more than 40 hours in the dark.
The Giving Hope Foundation's Roy Sukdhev says they're going to hold a peace march on Sunday.
"The power problem, electricity and water problems are national problem. We all understand and respect that but Phoenix, compared to all other district in eThekwini and KZN are more seriously affected because of poor infrastructure and non-response to repairs from the eThekwini Municipality."
