Some residents took part in a march on Sunday, using the #AllLivesMatter slogan, to advocate for harmony for all those who live there and or do business or attend school.

Phoenix has been under the spotlight since more than 20 people were killed in the area in apparent vigilante attacks during the recent riots.

March organiser Seelan Nair says they want to put an end to the false narrative that all Phoenix residents condone what happened.

"We sympathise for those lives that were lost during the unrest.

"We are asking SAPS to get involved more bodies to the ground, reason being there are social media messages that are going out and convicting citizens of Phoenix, they are giving wrong information and also the media is posting the wrong questions to the wrong people.

"There is untold told stories of Phoenix. There is no racial tension. There is no racism. If you go into our shopping malls, if you go into our taxis, there is mixed multi-racial, there is no problem."

Meanwhile, the bail hearing of 10 suspects arrested in connection with the Phoenix killings is expected to take place in the Verulam Magistrate's Court this week.
