Health Minister Joe Phaahla has welcomed a donation of health equipment meant to help strengthen the public health system.

The donation from the German Development Bank includes mobile clinics, specialised vaccine fridges and temperature monitoring devices.
It's said to be worth half-a-billion rand.
Phaahla attended the official handover ceremony at the Sobantu Community Hall in Pietermaritzburg on Thursday.
"Very well-equipped with everything as you can see outside here, you can do basic, from acute care, minor ailments, chronic ailments. They can even do from sexual and reproductive health services almost everything."
He says the 46 mobile units will operate in KZN, Gauteng, Eastern Cape, and the Western Cape.

"I don't think it was by chance that we chose KZN, we can see that KZN is on the top of the list in terms of implementing the programme. A seamless progression from fighting COVID, going out to mobilise people to vaccinate to now expanding a very seamless program, when you add the mobile services not only to the young people but also to the entire population."
