South Africa's digital vaccine certificate has officially been launched.

It's been launched by the Health Ministry and was developed in partnership with the Health Department and the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research.
Addressing the nation on Friday morning, Health Minister Joe Phaahla said it's still in its first phase of use and development.
"We say first phase because it's ready for use but there's going to be a lot more improvements going forward in the next two months to improve, especially on the safety and security of the certificate. But it's ready for use."
It's expected the certificate will enable vaccinated people to gain access to many opportunities.
"We expect sports and recreation to open up more for vaccinated people, shops to provide discounts and others to give prizes. We have already seen one of the banks adverting prizes for people when they get vaccinated,” said Phaahla.
To access your digital card - visit vaccine.certificate.health.gov.za.
