Updated | By Nushera Soodyal
The Department of International Relations has confirmed that four Port Elizabeth siblings have been detained in Saudi Arabia.

It is alleged that the siblings, who are members of a Muslim family, are being held for “security reasons”.
Earlier this year one of the children was reportedly prevented from joining the militant group, ISIS.

DIRCO spokesperson, Nelson Kgwete says they are unaware of any charges formally brought against the siblings.
''The South African government is working through its embassy in Saudi Arabia to determine the nature of the charges from the Saudi authorities, that is what we are busy with at the moment,'' he said.
