Payments to ECD practitioners underway; KZN Education
Updated | By Lauren Beukes
The Department of Education in KZN says it's processing payments for all Early Childhood Development Practitioners.
It says most were paid on Tuesday, with the remainder expected to be paid by Thursday
The delays are said to stem from incomplete documentation submitted before the Personal Run on April 15th.
Rex Molefe, Chair of the National Early Childhood Development Alliance, says this is one of the many challenges faced by the ECD sector.

He has urged the government to address these concerns, noting that many centres lack basic necessities like proper plumbing.
"Apartheid time, up until to this democratic dispensation, there is no movement, and funding needs to go to municipalities and to provinces. Those budgets are allocated to those various municipalities and then the money must be released so that we can continually provide quality ECD provisioning."
