Pavilion Pick n Pay reopens after employee contracts COVID-19

All staff members at The Pavilion Shopping Centre's Pick n Pay store are being screened, after one employee tested positive for COVID-19.

The supermarket was temporarily closed on Wednesday, but centre management says the store will reopen on Friday.
Management at the Durban shopping centre says it was informed on Wednesday that an employee at Pick n Pay had contracted the virus.
The store implemented strict protocols immediately.
It also began the process of contact tracing – to ensure that those who were in close contact with the employee – were identified and sent home to self-quarantine.

The Pavilion informed members of the public of the situation via Facebook.
Pick n Pay closed the store on Wednesday for deep cleaning and sanitation.
It says it will reopen to customers at 9am this morning.
Meanwhile, centre management's advised all tenants to continue practicing social distancing and adhere to health and safety measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
