Pausing J&J vaccine will send wrong message to public warns SAMA
Updated | By Andrew Robertson
The SA Medical Association assures the public concerned by the government's decision to pause the country's Covid vaccination programme - to not be.

The SAMA has offered some reassurance to South Africans.
As a precautionary measure, we decided to temporarily halt our vaccination drive using the Johnson & Johnson shots.
It's after US experts said they were investigating reports of blood clots. Six cases have been registered among the nearly 7 million people who've had the jab.

One person has died.
Sama's Vice-Chair -- Dr Mvuyisi Mzukwa -- says this temporary stoppage though, could impact South Africa's vaccination efforts.
"The administration of the vaccine will delay the backfoot of the process. On top of that the hesitancy from the public, if there are these decisions that have to be taken it will escalate the views and conspiracy theories on the ground regarding this vaccine."
"We always said that government should be careful about the message. If they take a decision like this, they send a message to the public."
