There's been a halt on
the Department of Cooperative Governance's Section 154 intervention in
eThekwini.
The municipality says an urgent council meeting that was convened to introduce the intervention was postponed on Friday.
The meeting would have seen MEC Bongi Sithole-Moloi discuss the support they intend to give the municipality.
The intervention is meant to help turn the situation in the troubled metro around.
eThekwini Municipality Speaker Thabani Nyawose says on Cogta's arrival, councillors raised some concerns.

"That we have not followed the provisions in the rules of order of the council. Any report or any presentation that should come to the council should first be tabled and discussed in the executive committee meeting.
"Then the council will receive a report for political parties in the council to debate to make a decision. Unfortunately, that process was not followed, because the MEC insisted the meeting must be convened before Friday."
