Patel: Govt to phase out combustion engines

Trade and Industry Minister Ebrahim Patel says the country's working toward phasing out combustion vehicles.
Patels launched the Electric Vehicles (EVs) Roadmap in Pretoria on Monday.
He says they're laying the foundation for plans to transform the automotive industry.
Patel says they want to avoid job losses and protect South African producers.

"As a large number and growing number of countries transition, build their consumer and producer market to electric vehicles the impact will is pretty significant on South African producers."
