Parts of SA continue to face extreme heat
The SA Weather Service say heatwave over parts of South Africa is expected to continue until Tuesday.
Despite flooding due to heavy rain on the East Rand yesterday, the northern parts of Gauteng are expected to be hot today with Pretoria expected to hit 36 degrees Celsius.
"A heatwave with persistently high temperatures is expected in the Western Bushveld of Limpopo and northern parts of Gauteng until at least Tuesday," the SA Weather Service said in its daily forecast.
In the North West, Vryburg was expected to hit 38 degrees, while Upington in the Northern Cape was expected to reach 42 degrees.
In the Western Cape, Beaufort West was expected to go to 39 degrees, while Graaff-Reinet in the Eastern Cape was expected to hit 42.
The SA Weather Service said hot and humid weather will result in extremely uncomfortable conditions over the northern and central parts of the Northern Cape, southern parts of Cape Winelands, Central and Little Karoo of the Western Cape, along the southeast coast and adjacent interior of the Eastern Cape, eastern parts of KwaZulu-Natal, Lowveld of Mpumalanga and Limpopo provinces as well as the Western Bushveld and Limpopo Valley.
"Extremely high fire danger conditions are expected in places for the Little and Central Karoo of the Western Cape, central and eastern parts of the Northern Cape, western parts of the North West and western and southern parts of Free State as well as the northern interior of the Eastern Cape," it said.
