Parts of M19 closed following protest action over housing supplies

Protestors in Reservoir Hills are demanding assistance from eThekwini Municipality - saying the City had promised them supplies and building materials after they lost their homes in a fire last week.

The blaze ripped through more than 200 homes at the uMkhudwini informal settlement on Thursday.
On Monday morning, residents angry over what they're calling 'a broken promise', took to the streets, leaving both sides of the M19 carriageway inaccessible.

Durban Metro police say the route between Rodger Sishi in Westville and Mountbatten Drive in Reservoir Hills, remains a no-go zone.
Ward councillor, Xolani Nala says he'll meet with the community today.
"People there want to know the specific dates the municipality is going to deliver their building materials.
"Disaster management did not completely take a list that's why there's some delay, because the list was not finalised," says Nala.
