Parts of northern Durban without water
Updated | By Noxolo Miya
The eThekwini's Water Department is said to be working around the clock to resolve the supply cuts in parts of northern Durban.

Several residential areas and businesses have been experiencing shortages since the start of the week.
"The issue is widespread and includes a number of subways that range from the Umgeni parks, sort of every marine area. I would say from the Umgeni River all the way to Tongaat, so what effectively has happened is that the main trunk line is not producing water,” says Councillor Nicole Bollman.
"There is no supply of water currently on the main trunk line, and this has been advised to me by the water department.”

Bollman says some of the water levels in some reservoirs are quite low.
"It started off on Monday where we saw quite a substantial drop to a couple of the reservoirs. The reservoirs and towers that are widely used by Virginia and Sunningdale and subsequently affected all six that makeup ward 35."
"And that would include all the way from Virginia to Umhlanga. We are now finding that areas in the low line close to the ocean are not as wildly affected.
“However, the further away you get from the ocean and the more steep the properties become, you are going to find that the water pressure there is non-existent and the residents there do not have supply."
