Parts of Maritzburg in the dark after storm

Msunduzi officials say technical crews are working around the clock to repair substations after severe storms left some parts of Pietermaritzburg without power for days.
The city's Lulamile Mapholoba says four substations were affected, including Willotown.
"Most of our infrastructure was hit by lightning and the problem then started because it hit quite a number of the infrastructure and that affected the provision of the electricity in a number of areas."

He says some major industrial areas are still affected.
"Power has been restored in most areas but you will find that at times it is restored, residence will complain about low voltage that matter is attended to, so its a work in progress."
