The report follows an oversight visit there earlier this year.

Chairperson of the committee, Francois Beukman says they advised police that there needed to be a turnaround strategy.
"We expressed a serious concern about the incidents and the increasing death toll there. We received commitments from SAPS that they will increase the efforts to quell the violence, get support from national office with regards to capabilities, and correct satellite police station. We will interrogate those issues when we meet with the KZN management," he says.

Around 100 people have been murdered at the hostel, in the south of Durban since 2014.
The Moerane Commission of Inquiry established to probe political violence in KZN also heard that Glebelands is a haven for hitmen.
