Glebelands residents threatened for money to assist hitman
Updated | By Steve Bhengu
Umlazi and Glebelands Hostel residents are being urged to alert police if they are threatened to contribute towards funds to assist a convicted hitman.
Police spokesperson, Thulani Zwane says people are being charged R30 to contribute to a fund to help the man appeal his conviction.
"We are appealing to anyone who may have been threatened by anyone to go to the police station and report the case, so that the matter will be investigated fully," he said.
The Moerane Commission of Inquiry probing political violence in KwaZulu-Natal has heard that some people living in and around the hostel have previously been forced to pay towards planned assassinations.
