Parly set to adopt Nhleko's report on Nkandla

A report that exonerates President Jacob Zuma from any liability for the R246-million spent upgrading his private home will be tabled in the National Assembly today.

The ANC is expected to use their majority to get the report, which is authored by Police Minister Nathi Nhleko, adopted.

Unlike the Public Protector, Thuli Madonsela, Nhleko found that Zuma does not owe a cent for the controversial upgrades.

The DA will propose a motion in the National Assembly this afternoon to have Nhleko's report substituted with a minority report that has been drafted by opposition parties.

While this is unlikely to be accepted by the ANC benches in the house, opposition parties insist that Nhleko got it wrong and concentrated on the wrong aspects of the upgrades in order to exonerate his boss.
