Parly gets second interdict against Nehawu
Updated | By Troye Lund
Parliament has obtained a second interdict against the union Nehawu in an effort to stop further protests in the precinct.
Workers started protesting on Friday over issues of bonuses that they want revisited even though an agreement has already been signed.
Parliamentary employees are expected to continue their strike today.
There was mayhem yesterday when police used stun grenades to disperse a group that was staging a sit-in on the steps of Parliament.
Interventions by various political parties yesterday brokered a temporary truce that saw public order police stand down.
Workers gathered in the old assembly chamber where they pledged to continue protesting until what they call an arrogant parliament agrees to their demands.
While Secretary of Parliament, Gengezi Mgidlana has made it clear that riot police will meet protestors with the same tactics if they disrupt the business of the legislature again today, Cosatu says its weight is fully behind its Nehawu affiliate on this matter.
