Parents warned amidst heat wave
Updated | By Nushera Soodyal
Paramedics are urging parents to watch their children more closely after attending to multiple incidents where children have drowned or almost drowned this week.

Today two boys drowned in a dam Limpopo while trying to cool off while an 18-month-old boy from Umkomaas is receiving treatment in hospital after he nearly drowned in a pool yesterday.
KZN Emergency Medical Services Robert Mckenzie says the recent heat wave is a possible factor and so are the school holidays.
''Children must not swim alone or unsupervised. Teach your children to never go swimming without the presence of or permission an adult. Also if you cannot swim, do not even enter the water, not even the shallow bodies of water.
''If you're swimming at the beach, make sure the beach has life guards and between the flags and listen to all the instructions from the life guards as they know where the dangerous areas are and the rip tides etcetera,'' he said.
