Parents threaten to keep Wentworth school closed
Updated | By Nushera Soodyal
Parents have vowed to keep Assegai Primary School in Wentworth, south of Durban, closed until education officials address their concerns over a newly appointed principal.
The school has been on lock-out since the department announced that an outside candidate has been hired.
They want the acting principal, Odette Fields to run the school.
The school's Governing Body chairperson, Andre de Bruin says no one from the department has spoken to them.

He says they want to know how the interview process was carried out.
"The people are tired of the department's arrogance. The department has said a host of lies on social media, and on TV - that this is racist, and that the Wentworth community is racist. Nobody from the department has come to address the community," he says.
Meanwhile, KZN Education says it's working to ensure teaching and learning continues smoothly at Assegai.
