A father who was shot while dropping his child off at school in the west of Durban is recovering in hospital.

Police say the 40-year-old man was outside the school on Garden Crescent in New Germany on Wednesday morning when he was attacked by a gunman.
The suspect fled the scene.
ER24 says its paramedics found a school teacher tending to his gunshot wound on his upper arm.
They transported him to hospital.

Parent Mzamo Billy was also dropping his child off in the morning and arrived minutes after the shooting.
"It is obviously concerning if criminals are able to identify and shoot parents in an environment such as schools where there are young kids who shouldn't be subjected to that kind of behaviour and trauma.
"But I have no doubt that it is something that no school would expect such a thing to happen."
Police in Pinetown are investigating an attempted murder case.
