Paramedics recover woman's body after 100-metre fall
Updated | By Portia Cele
Authorities are investigating the circumstances that led to a woman falling about 100-metres into a ravine near Ndwedwe in the Ilembe District on the north coast.
Initial reports are that the 30-year-old woman had been collecting plants for herbal medicine when she lost her footing and fell yesterday.
IPSS Medical Rescue's Paul Herbst says they had to access the area from the bottom of the cliff.
"We were unable to gain access from the top due to the bushy and rubbery conditions. Rescuers climbed up approximately 50 metres using climbing equipment to get to the deceased. Unfortunately, she was declared dead on site," he says.

Herbst says paramedics used specialised equipment to lower the woman's body to the ground.
