Pandor: Plan to step away from US dollar 'in motion'

Plans to move away from dependency on the US dollar as a central currency are said to be well in motion among BRICS partners.

International Relations Minister Naledi Pandor spoke on the work of the New Development Bank, formerly the BRICS Development Bank.

It's ahead of the group's summit in Johannesburg later in August.
Pandor says the bank has played a key role in backing nations with developing economies.
"The bank was established by BRICS members in 2015 with the intent to play a catalytic role in providing financial support to immerging markets and developing countries of the south are reflecting on the need to bring fairness to global financial systems and to find ways of de-risking our economics and institutions from over dependents on a single currency."
