Panayiotou trial: State to oppose acquittal
Updated | By Algoa FM
The State is expected to oppose an application for the acquittal of two men who are co-accused in the abduction and murder of Port Elizabeth school teacher Jayde Panayiotou.

Zolani Sibeko and Sinethemba Nemembe have been sitting alongside Christopher Panayiotou for the past 59 days of the trial.
Today is also the last day the trial is on the high court roll.
Peter Daubermann brought an application yesterday to have his clients, Sibeko and Nenembe acquitted due to a lack of evidence, which he says is all circumstantial.

The state will be opposing this application today. It is not confirmed if defence advocate, Terry Price who represents Panayiotou will have a chance to call his first witness.
There is also no indication yet as to when this trial will be back on the role.
