Pair walking 3000km across SA, arrives in Durban
Updated | By Bernadette Wolhuter
Two months ago, Paul Steyn and Mike Minnie set out on an epic journey - a 3000-kilometre walk across the country, from Pretoria to Cape Town, and this week, the pair arrived in Durban.
It'd be a daunting task for anyone and perhaps even more so for Steyn and Minnie - who are both amputees.
But it's all for a good cause.
Through the Paul Steyn Foundation, which Steyn founded in 2012, Steyn and his team have dedicated their lives to raising awareness and funds to help disadvantaged amputees, who have no other means to get prosthetic limbs.
"We got through towns and we want to find patients we can support with prosthetics," Steyn says, "But we have a backlog of about 1 000 patients, who have asked us for help and if you look at the government side there is a backlog of seven years to get prosthetics".

Through projects and campaigns like this, they've already assisted 20 people.
"On this trip, we are giving away about five prosthetic limbs," he says.
Steyn and his team will be walking along the promenade tomorrow morning (SAT) from 9am and anyone who would like to join them is welcome to. For more information, you can find the foundation on all social media platforms.
