In an effort to ensure that schools are well-staffed, KZN Education has concluded the placement of some 700 educators to schools that need them.
All staff members who’ve been redeployed or appointed are expected to resume their duties today.
The Department says it identified 961 surplus educators last year.

However, there’d been instability in some schools, as 700 of them hadn’t been placed.
Spokesperson Muzi Mahlambi says action will be taken against those who don’t report for duty.
"They are required to assume duties today. failure to do so, appropriate actions will be taken. We are appealing to schools and school governing bodies not to refuse these educators as this is illegal."
