Over 50 taxi violence cases probed in KZN
Updated | By Gcinokuhle Malinga
There are 54 cases related to taxi violence that are being investigated in KZN this year.

That's according to Transport MEC Bheki Ntuli, who added that 33 suspects have been arrested for these crimes. Speaking at the provincial taxi Lekgotla in Durban yesterday Ntuli said the instability in the industry must end.
"We appeal to taxi operators that they should avoid these conflicts and allow a space for engagements so we can deal with some of their issues", he said.
Taxi council - SANTACO's KZN chairperson - Boy Zondi, says they are in talks with conflicting associations...
"There are 246 taxi associations in KZN and of these there are about 3 or 4 involved in conflict", he said.
"So if you consider the low number of associations in conflict one sees we are the leading province when it comes to maintaining peace", Zondi said.
The gathering is taking place in the lead up to the national taxi Lekgotla later this week - where taxi violence and regulating the industry will be among the topics of discussion.
