eThekwini says more than 40 000 bags of litter were collected during mass clean up operations across Durban's beaches over the Easter weekend.
Municipal employees, organisations and volunteers have been picking up plastic waste, reeds and debris that washed up on the shoreline during the floods.
The city says crews began working on Good Friday and collected some 12 000 bags of rubbish from city's northern beaches, including Umhlanga, uMdloti, and Westbrook.
