Over 300 new Covid-19 cases in SA

The National Institute for Communicable Diseases (NICD) has reported 305 new Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours leading up to Wednesday evening.

This brings the country’s total laboratory-confirmed cases to 2 924 622.
A total of 33 567 tests were conducted on Wednesday, with a positivity rate of 0.9%.
The majority of new cases comes from Gauteng with just under a 100 new infections, followed by Western Cape and KwaZulu-Natal.
An additional 48 Covid-19 related deaths have been reported, bringing total fatalities to 89 435 to date.
There has been an increase of 33 new hospital admissions in the past 24 hours, with 3 723 people currently receiving treatment in both private and public facilities.
On the vaccine front, a total of 130 514 vaccines were administered on Wednesday.
