It will benefit more than 2 000 residents living in some parts of Inanda, Ntuzuma and Kloof.

Residents in the areas were using pit latrines and septic tanks for the disposal of their waste.

The municipality's spokesperson Lindiwe Khuzwayo says the biggest challenge with septic tanks was that households did not maintain them and sewage often ended up impacting the environment.

"The sewer reticulation project is spearheaded by the eThekwini Water and Sanitation Unit. The unit implemented the project in Ntuzuma B, C, E, Inanda Glebe, Inanda B and Kloof Msengane Road."
