Metro police spokesperson, Parbhoo Sewpersadh says roadblocks were held in and around the city from Friday when heavy storms lashed the province.

"These road blocks were held mostly in the eThekwini area. We thought that the rain would dampen the spirits of these drivers - drinking and driving - but however it seems like the message has not gone through to them," he said.

Meanwhile, the N3 Toll Concession's Con Roux says they expect slightly higher traffic volumes on the N3 heading to Johannesburg today.

Around 2200 vehicles passed through the Mooi River Toll Plaza yesterday.

"Together with that, a return of more heavy motor vehicles so we plead to motorists who will be travelling to please be on the lookout for all those trucks and to share the road responsibly with them," Roux said.
