Over 1 700 new coronavirus cases registered in SA

One hundred and thirty-two more people have died here in South Africa, bringing the number of lives lost to COVID-19 to 16 866.
Forty-nine of those fatalities - over the past 24 hours - were recorded in KwaZulu-Natal.
Another 1 700 infections have been registered, pushing the number of positive cases identified to over 676 000.
Our recovery rate remains 90%, which means more than 609 000 people no longer have the virus.
KZN has a little over 5 800 active cases, with 2 700 deaths and over 110 000 recoveries.
