Outa urges govt to extend fuel levy relief
Updated | By Nondumiso Dube
The Organisation Undoing Tax Abuse has urged the energy minister to extend the R1.50 general fuel levy relief by at least another month.
Outa says such a reprieve can in the short-term help cushion the impact of the spiraling fuel prices on consumers.
Petrol is expected to cost around R2 more per litre next month, while the price of diesel could go up by over R1.
CEO Wayne Duvenge says government should offer another breather while coming up with solutions for the future.

"Petrol is extremely expensive now, it is impacting on inflation, commuter pricing and we really do need to see longer-term solutions.
"But for now, the short-term solution is the only space that government can provide some reprieve and that is in the fuel levy to motorist, citizens and to the entire transport network of this country."
