Opposition parties question arms deal report
Updated | By Anelisa Kubheka
Some political parties feel the commission of inquiry investigating the so-called arms deal was not above board.
This after President Jacob Zuma announced yesterday that the Seriti Commission of Inquiry had found no evidence of fraud or corruption after a 4-year probe.
COPE's Dennis Bloem says many questions have been left unanswered.
''Tony Yengeni and Schabir Shaik were jailed for nothing else but for the arms deal. Is this not a waste of tax payers money to institute a commission of inquiry? It can't be true that there was no corruption," he said.
The IFP's Narend Singh says justice has not been served.
"We've realised that justice delayed is justice denied because the number of these transactions had taken place more that 10-15 years ago. But for now we respect what the findings were," he said.
The ANC Tweeted that it trusts the commission's findings bring to finality allegations of wrongdoing.
