COPE says disgruntled political parties will decide on their plan of action later today.

They've lodged a grievance with the electoral commission, after 20 people were arrested in connection with the double voting scandal on Wednesday.

19 people were from KZN.

Last night, several parties like the BLF and Social Revolutionary Workers Party said they were concerned about claims over voter irregularities. COPE's Dennis Bloem says the 19 parties are hoping for a full audit.

"We are going to meet to assess what the progress is since last night. We have drafted our grievances, submitted it to our lawyer so he submits it to the IEC. We will then see what the way forward is," Bloem said.

The IFP says it also might question the credibility of the polls. The party says it's concerned by allegations that some people voted more than once.

The IEC says 80% of the country's voting districts have been counted so far. Leading the pack with 57% of the ballot is the ANC, followed by the DA with 21% and the EFF with 10%.

Scientific research council - the CSIR - believes the ruling party won't get more than a 60% majority - when the ballots are tallied. In 2014, the ruling party held on to 62% of the total results.

"They are going to fall slightly below at about 57% with an error margin of 1%. It can go either way but they are not going to do better than that - even if this changes."
