Operations resume at King Shaka Airport after bomb scare
Updated | By Nushera Soodyal
King Shaka International says the police bomb squad was called in and the airport terminal evacuated after an unattended bag was found in the check-in area last night.

The SAPS Dog Unit was first on the scene.
"The dog sat next to the bag deeming it a positive find and then the SAPS bomb team was called in. At that time we had - for safety reasons - evacuated the terminal to ensure the safety of the passengers, airport users and staff," he says.
Colin Naidoo - who's with the Airports Company SA - says normal operations resumed a short while later - after authorities declared the area safe.
"Once the bomb technician declared the place safe - we resumed operations. So all operations at the airport resumed to normal," he says.
Meanwhile, King Shaka officials are urging travellers to keep their bags with them at all times and report any suspicious items to security and police.
