One year since Senzo Meyiwa's death
Updated | By Zongile Mthimkhulu
Today marks a year since former Bafana Bafana and Orlando Pirates goalkeeper Senzo Meyiwa was killed.
The Durban-born soccer star was shot during an alleged robbery while he was at his girlfriend's home in Spruitview, east of Johannesburg.
Meyiwa was 30-years-old. His family and friends say they're hoping and praying for more leads in the investigation into his death.
One suspect was arrested soon after the killing but was later released because of a lack of evidence linking him to the murder.
National Police spokesperson, Solomon Makgale says they're working hard on bringing Meyiwa's killers to book.
"We have followed up on each and every bit of information that we've received. Unfortunately, so far we are not in a position where we can say we have somebody behind bars.
"We do have material of evidential value in terms of DNA as well as other evidence that was gathered from the cirme scene. We will not stop searching," he said.
