One suspected cattle thief killed, two hurt in Maritzburg
A suspect's been killed in a shootout with police in Pietermaritzburg while two others have been hurt.
Police allege the suspects had stolen several head of cattle and slaughtered them.
They say they received information about their vehicle travelling on the N3.
Officers stopped the vehicle but were met with gunfire. They returned fire - killing one of the suspects.
A police dog was also hit during the exchange and died.
