One person has been killed and another three left fighting for their lives
following a shooting incident in Tongaat, north of Durban.
IPSS Medical rescue's Paul Herbst says paramedics are at the scene at the moment.
"Emergency services are on scene where a suspected business robbery has taken place. Three people have been shot. One person sustained fatal injuries. The other two patients have been seriously hurt. They are being taken to hospital," he said.
Police say a VW Polo was found with four occupants, all who had sustained gunshot wounds, on the R102 in the Tongaat CBD.
The driver died at the scene.
SAPS spokesperson Thulani Zwane says there was an alleged exchange of gunfire between the occupants of the Polo and security guards who had been in a bakkie.
"The motive for the shooting is still unknown," said Zwane.
A case of murder and attempted murder has been opened at Tongaat SAPS.
