One killed, two injured in N3 truck crash

UPDATE: A truck driver, who became trapped in the wreckage of a double vehicle collision on the N3 after Shongweni, has died. Meditech medics say they tried to resuscitate him in the ambulance, but the man, who is believed to have been in his late 30s, died after he was taken to hospital.
Two heavy duty trucks collided on the N3 Durban-bound, leaving the driver of one of the vehicles trapped in the wreckage.
"Advance life support paramedics are working on him whilst the Durban Fire Department is trying to extricate him from the vehicle using the Jaws of Life and other hydraulic equipment," Rescue Care's Garrith Jamieson said.
Groceries that one of the trucks was carrying are strewn across the road.

"Two people have sustained minor to moderate injuries and are currently also being treated and will be transported through to a nearby hospital."

Meanwhile, 21 children have suffered minor injuries after a taxi crash there.
The minibus they'd were travelling to school in - collided with another vehicle on Galway Road. The cause of the smash isn't known at this stage.
TRAFFIC UPDATE: Recovery is still in progress on the N3, Durban-bound near Shongweni. Two lanes are open to traffic.
