One killed, one critical in R103 crash

One person has died while another has been left injured after the bakkie they were travelling in crashed on R103 Chieveley, between Colenso and Escort.
It is understood that the driver of the vehicle had somehow lost control causing it to crash into a tree. According to ER24 emergency services the driver was found still trapped in the bakkie, as the service's Chitra Bodasing Harduth explains.
"A man who was found lying next to the vehicle was assessed and and found to be in a critical condition. He was treated and transported to hospital, however his condition deteriorated while in hospital and had to be resuscitated," she said.
"Despite all efforts to have he died," Badosing Harduth said.
"The driver of the vehicle was found to be trapped and had to be extricated. He was also in a critical condition and was attended to by another emergency service," she said.
"The exact details leading up the accident are unknown but authorities were on scene for further investigations," Bodasing Harduth said.
