One family lost three children: Lesufi
Updated | By Laila Majiet
One family has lost three children following the horrific crash on the R25 near Pretoria, says Gauteng education MEC Panyaza Lesufi.
Twenty school children and a taxi driver died in the head-on collision involving a taxi and a truck.
"I am told one family has lost three children. Just one family. So you can imagine the pain and difficulty they are going through," he says.
Social workers have been assigned to counsel the families.
Lesufi says the children were travelling home from school.
He was unable to confirm whether it was primary or high school pupils.
"I was at the scene and there were tiny bodies. I assume it's primary school children."
He says the children attended different schools.
A list of the names of the children is expected to be finalised by Sunday, Lesufi says.
