One dead after fire rips through Durban informal settlement

A fire that ripped through an informal dwelling in Durban on Friday morning has claimed the life of a woman.
The blaze at the Malacca Road settlement destroyed some 35 homes.
About 130 people are now without a roof over their heads.

KZN police spokesperson Robert Netshiunda says Greenwood Park SAPS is looking into the cause of the fire.
"The woman was reportedly running away from the fire that started in the area. Circumstances surrounding her death for part of present investigations."
