One dead, 5 crew injured on offshore ship

A Brazilian national has died and five crew hurt - in an accident on board a ship off Durban.

Paramedics and members of National Sea Rescue Institute were called out to the heavy lift vessel, following the incident yesterday.
It's not known at this stage exactly what happened on the ship.

The NSRI's, Craig Lambinon says rescuers then made their way to the ship in a helicopter.
"On arrival at the scene, a helicopter landed on the helicopter deck of the ship. The patients were taken into the care of Netcare 911 paramedics. Five patients have been airlifted to hospital in Durban," he says.

Lambinon adds, "One person is in critical condition and four are in stable conditions. The body of the deceased man at the request of the captain will remain on board the ship. The ship has continued on its voyage."
