Old-age home in Lamontville makes nappy plea
Updated | By Xolani Khumalo
The Lamont Issy Geshen home for the aged in Lamontville,
south of Durban has embarked on a dignity drive as part of attempts to cub a
shortage of adult nappies.
Lamont Issy Geshen is home to 68 frail elders and more than 70% of them rely on disposable nappies.
The home provides accommodation, nutritious meals, medical care, and 24-hour quality care to elders over the age of 60 years.
The home's chairperson Guy Levene says they are making an appeal to the public to help with donations.

"The home is heavily dependent on donations. Part of our day-to-day service includes providing adult nappies for those elders who are frail and incontinent.
"This can result in great levels of embarrassment and discomfort for those affected. Recently there's been a shortage of adult nappies and the cost of providing incontinent care is high.
"This is a critical situation for us and the nappies are central for maintaining hygiene, comfort and dignity for our elders."
