Officials working swiftly to restore water supply in KwaDukuza
Updated | By Puseletso Petersen
Umgeni Water says officials are working tirelessly to restore normal water supply to residents and businesses in around KwaDukuza's city centre.
Repairs have been underway to fix a burst pipe that's led to extreme water shortages - expected to last a few days.
The utility's Shami Harichunder says the fault is at the Hazelmere treatment plant.
He says they're in the process of replacing the pumps which have have been damaged, beyond repair.
"We have a problem at Hazelmere Water Treatment Plant and at Umvoti. This as a result in inadequate amount of water being supplied by the municipality in iLembe in Ilembe to consumers. The fault lies at the Avondale pump station where two of the three pumps there failed, " he said.
Residents are being urged to use water sparingly over the next few days.
